About 22 years ago a young co-ed attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on the central coast of California had
a hankering for a tasty muffin. There were none to be found. She decided then and there if she were to enjoy that muffin,
she would be the one to have to create it. And she did. A delicious over-sized square top muffin that left all others wanting.
It wasn't too long before the good people of San Luis Obispo (SLO) were begging for more. She opened a small bakery in
Baywood Park and then it all took off. The people demanded more.
The young woman soon married and started a family. They opened a retail bakery in SLO and began creating other
tasty treats. Pastries, Danish, croissants, pies, cakes, cookies, breads... the list went on and on. They outgrew themselves
once again and decided to go commercial to satisfy even more people. Now everyone could purchase SLO Baked items in places
all over town.
Well, after more than 20 years and a growing family, they decided it was time to pursue other interests. They
refused, however, to let the dream die. In March of 2006, my wife and I pulled what we could together and purchased SLO Baked.
We continue the dream with all the same formulas, offering new items such as artisan breads (sourdough,
ciabatta and more) and our new "Panic Bar", an energy bar made with Sumatra Coffee. You can find these and other
treats at a retailer near you.
Thanks for spending time with us and look for more SLO Baked news on this website as the dream continues...
